My locomotive Project for Master Builder - Motive Power (52 images)
The stages of scratch building a Davenport style On30 locomotive, for my Master Builder - Motive Power certificate. The 'days' used in photo captions were not always the very next day, but they do represent each day's work. I estimate 1-2 hours for each day. Bear in mind, that I developed my own plans to 1:48 scale and I haven't done this before so also practising my cutting/fabrication techniques. I expect that an experienced scratch builder would do it faster. It is quite enjoyable to me though and it's my hobby, not a job!
I have since completed the requirements for Motive Power and the loco is shown as complete in the last 2 pictures. The loco can be seen in test runs at Video 1 and Video 2
